Monohybrid Cross (Aa x Aa)
A 2x2 monohybrid cross with the classic 3:1 dominant-to-recessive ratio labeled.
Dihybrid Cross (AaBb x AaBb)
A 4x4 dihybrid cross with the classic 9:3:3:1 phenotype ratio.
Blood Type Cross (ABO)
Multiple-allele ABO blood type cross showing possible offspring blood types.
Sex-Linked (X-linked) Cross
An X-linked trait cross (e.g. colorblindness) showing carrier and affected offspring.
Incomplete Dominance Cross
Incomplete dominance (red x white = pink) with the 1:2:1 phenotype ratio.
Test Cross
A test cross (Aa x aa) used to determine an unknown genotype.
What is a Punnett square?
A Punnett square is a grid that predicts the possible genotypes of offspring from a genetic cross. The alleles each parent can pass on are written along the top and side, and each cell shows one possible combination, which lets you read off the genotype and phenotype ratios. Figviz builds the grid and fills in the combinations from a plain description of the cross, so you do not have to draw and label cells by hand.

Tips for an accurate Punnett square
State the genotypes clearly and use a capital letter for the dominant allele and the matching lowercase for the recessive. For dihybrid crosses, list the gametes (AB, Ab, aB, ab) so the 4x4 grid fills correctly. Always sanity-check the ratios against what you expect (3:1 for a monohybrid Aa x Aa, 9:3:3:1 for a dihybrid) and regenerate if a cell looks off.
