What is a plot diagram generator?
A plot diagram generator is a tool that builds a visual story structure diagram for you. You describe the story or provide the key events, and the tool produces a labeled mountain-shaped chart mapping out the five narrative stages: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Figviz uses AI to turn a plain description into a clean, print-ready diagram in seconds, removing the need to draw and label the shape by hand. Teachers use it to create materials for class, and students use it to plan essays and analyze literature.

Tips for an accurate plot diagram
Pin down the climax first, since every other stage is defined in relation to it. The rising action should contain multiple events that escalate in intensity, not just one. For complex novels with subplots, map the main plot only on the primary diagram and create separate diagrams for each subplot. When making a Freytag pyramid, include the inciting incident on the rising action slope and label the denouement separately from the resolution. If a stage label looks vague, add a specific event from the text to make the diagram more useful for class discussion or essay writing.
